INTRODUCTION

My workshops are about real learning, both on location and in-class group projections.

Classes are at my home in Mill Valley, and our locations are in the San Francisco Bay Area.

We always enjoy an enthusiastic spirit of camaraderie and support.

Photographers of all levels are welcome, including those who use Smartphones.

Max # of guests is 8.

Noon Lunch at Driver’s Market, Sausalito

1:00 Leave for Pier 33, ferry to Alcatraz

2:30 - 4:30 Alcatraz, a moody and surprisingly fascinating place to shoot, endless photo ops

5:00 - 7:00 North Beach street photography - historic and iconic, filled with characters and moments

7:30 - 9:00 Dusk SF View of the Golden Gate Bridge (maybe with fog!) from Marin side (optional)

Saturday, August 23

8:00 - 10:30 Ferry Building Farmers’ Market - wildly photogenic, friendly vendors, and really fun (and delicious!)

Lunch at the Farmers’ Market

1:00 - 3:00 Chinatown street photography, followed by colorful and unusual Chinatown Hungry Ghost Festival’s vibrant street parade and colorful costumes

7:30 - 9:00 Dusk shot of glittering San Francisco from a terrific location on Russian Hill (optional)

Sunday, August 24

9:30 - Noon Group Projection and Critique to thoroughly discuss a selection of your images

12:30 Workshop ends

"The group projection allowed us to have a great discussion and critiques of our photos - a good way to see how others photographed similar situations. There was excellent teaching in the field - giving suggestions, helping set up shots, then reviewing our photos on the classroom's big screen to see the composition…all the hard work put into this workshop is greatly appreciated."
